Dr. Samuel Roscoe, Assistant Professor of Teaching in Business Education, UBC Faculty of Education
Dr. Roscoe has 15 years of experience in senior supply chain roles with multinational corporations, logistics companies, and non-profit organizations including Adidas, Eagle Global Logistics and Médecins Sans Frontieres. He earned his PhD in Business and Management from Manchester Business School and is currently a Lecturer in Supply Chain and Operations Management at the UBC Sauder School of Business. His research focuses on how businesses can manage geopolitical disruption risks and build more resilient supply chains.
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Roscoe was invited to provide testimony to the UK’s International Trade Select Committee on Pharmaceutical Supply Chains. His recommendation to establish “parallel supply chains” for the manufacture of critical goods in the UK, and non-critical commodity items in Asia, was later presented to UK government policymakers by the Select Committee. In June 2022, Dr. Roscoe hosted the Supply Chain Ministerial in cooperation with the US Department of State, an event attended by over 100 heads of state, policymakers, and US business leaders.
More recently, Dr. Roscoe developed a bespoke supply chain training program for the UK government on managing critical supply chains. He has trained over 200 civil servants, including those from the Department for International Trade, the Department for Transport, the Department for Health and Social Care, and the Cabinet Office. At Sauder, Dr. Roscoe designs and teaches operations and supply chain management courses on the MBA program and conducts executive education sessions for local and international business leaders.
