October 2014 - Professional Development Meeting

Business Assertiveness

The supply chain world is like a coin that has two sides.  One side is the customer perspective which is fairly clear and detailed about what is needed, the relevant parameters and the timeline. The other side of the coin is the supplier and this side can be different because they want to do what fits their criteria and time lines.

The need to educate, clarify or negotiate so the two sides of the coin are understood can be a difficult task.  It is not easy to manage people and advise them of parameters, restrictions and relevance.  A skill that can be helpful in these difficult situations is business assertiveness.

In this session, participants will leave with:

  • understanding assertiveness
  • strategies to manage confrontation
  • ideas on how to communicate assertively
